Leaders Who Care About Reproductive Health: Creating an Equitable, Inclusive, and Productive Workplace
January 15, 2025Jakarta – The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), in partnership with the Indonesia Business Coalition for Women Empowerment (IBCWE), successfully hosted the latest Women’s Inspiring and Networking Group (WING) event on February 27th in Jakarta. This gathering convened leading figures from diverse organizations to foster collaborative strategies for advancing gender parity in leadership roles and implementing inclusive workplace policies. WING’s initiatives are designed to empower current and future female leaders with essential skills, expertise, and connections, thereby increasing female representation in Executive Leadership Teams (ELTs) and promoting overall gender equality within the workforce. This third WING event also highlighted the important role of organizations in driving sustainable economic growth in Indonesia.
“With the theme ‘Leading the Way: Strengthening Women’s Integral Role in Shaping Indonesia’s Economic Future,’ the event was attended by approximately 20 leaders from IDX Listed Companies and IBCWE Member Companies.
The event was opened by the President Director of IDX, Iman Rachman, who emphasized the importance of women’s roles in leadership to achieve gender equality and sustainable economic growth. ‘According to a census conducted by IDX, IBCWE, and BOI Research in 2021 on Women in Executive Leadership Teams (ELT), only 8 out of 200 (4%) of the largest public companies (IDX200) are led by women, while only 15% of executive positions are held by women. Yet, women play an increasingly important role in the economy, as they can enhance productivity, innovation, and company competitiveness. Therefore, I personally believe that gender inclusivity is a smart business move,’ said Iman Rachman.”
During the dialogue session, participants discussed various company policies and concrete steps to promote gender equality. Participants shared experiences and gained in-depth insights to inspire the development of policies that create an inclusive and positive work environment.
The third WING event aims to create a strong commitment from leaders to prioritize gender equality, implement inclusive policies, and provide equal opportunities. This initiative also inspires more companies to support women’s empowerment and drive sustainable positive change for Indonesian business and society.
