Telkomtelstra Joining IBCWE

As a form of celebrating Indonesian Women’s Day 2019, Telkomtelstra celebrates by joining as part of IBCWE on March 6, 2019. Being an IBCWE member is a tangible manifestation of Telkomtelstra taking part in equalizing gender in Indonesia. Moreover, Telkomtelstra is a company engaged in the field of Science, Technology, Engineer, and Mathematic (STEM), which is still dominated by men.

President Director of Telkomtelstra, Erik Meijer said, Telkomtelstra is aware of the need to create and maintain gender diversity in the work environment, in accordance with its commitment to the company’s promise of equality launched in 2016. To maintain commitment, Telkomtelstra makes various policies and facilities that can promote gender equality in the company. Some of the things that Telkomtelstra has done are encouraging inclusiveness and diversity in the work environment, accommodating flexible working hours, providing lactation rooms and giving paternity leave for up to two weeks.

IBCWE’s Executive Director, Maya Juwita said, balance is not a women’s issue, but a problem in business. Gender balance is very important for the economy and society to develop. In the world of work, competition between employees is unavoidable, between men and women. Moreover, the issue of gender bias in the world of work has become an issue in the world of work, both nationally and internationally. Therefore, IBCWE welcomes Telkomtelstra as a new member. Because what has been done now can be encouraged to produce wider effects.

The signing of Telkomtelstra membership was attended by Mr. Daniel Rantzen, First Secretary of Economic Section, Australian Embassy, and Ms. Julia Newton-Howes, CEO of Investing in Women. Hopefully by becoming an IBCWE member, Telkomtelstra as the STEM industry can spread the good practices that have been done and become one of the pioneers in Indonesia.
