Australia & Indonesia International Trade Scholarship

Building on CEW’s existing Scholarship Program, this partnership would develop a scholarship for one Australian woman working in international trade or looking to promote trade and investment between the two countries. This could contribute to the strengthening of people-to-people connections and growing the network of women pioneering stronger trade and investment relations between Australia and Indonesia.

An equivalent scholarship for an Indonesian woman working in international trade or looking to promote trade and investment between the two countries would be supported by the Indonesia Business Coalition for Women Empowerment (IBCWE).

Applications will be open to candidates nationally and one scholarship will be awarded to the value of AUD$20,000 financed by DFAT.

Selection criteria:

• Mid to senior executive (CEO, or no more than 3 levels down from CEO) in a business engaged or planning to engage in trade or investment between Australia and Indonesia
• 5 or more years general management experience (i.e., business unit, line or functional management incorporating key responsibilities such as P&L management, strategic planning, and people leadership)
• Must be committed to developing the long-term business relationship between Australia and Indonesia and have future intention to engage in Indonesia
• Endorsement from senior management or the Board of her organisation
• Applicants must choose an international business trade leadership course
• The successful recipient must complete the course by October 2022
• Indonesia citizen

2022 Scholarship Inclusions and obligations:

The course is chosen by the applicant (with demonstration of relevance to international trade) OR the applicant may select: INSEAD Leading Across Borders & Cultures  Leading Across Borders and Cultures Overview | INSEAD  (5 day course commencing October 17^th – so meets the end of year deadline) – pending confirmation from INSEAD that a spot may be held for a participant.

• The successful candidate must commit to attend the whole course.
• The successful candidate is required to write a report about her scholarship experience and may be asked to speak at CEW and IBCWE events.
• On completion of the course, the successful candidate will become a member of the CEW alumni community, CEW Connect.

Scholarship Schedule:

Applications open from Wednesday, 27th April – Friday, 20th May 2022.

Winner

The winner is obliged to provide a report of their scholarship experience at the completion of their course. They also give verbal feedback about the application process directly to the Scholarships committee.

Winners will feature in the promotion of any future Australian International Trade Scholarships.

On completion of the course, the recipient will become part of the CEW Connect community. The winner will be encouraged to be active within the community by supporting other members in a mentoring capacity, organizing networking events, speaking at future Leaders Programs, contributing to the Connect newsletter and promoting CEW advocacy work.

This scholarship is supported by the Australian and Indonesian governments as part of the Indonesia – Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA) Economic Cooperation Program (ECP), known as Katalis.
